Recall program to check and solve issue of airbag on previous generation Nissan Navara (D40)

Hà Nội, 28/02/2018 – As approved by the Vietnam Register, Nissan Vietnam (NVL) officially announces the Recall program to inspect and rectify a potential defect of the passenger airbag provided by Takata Co. Japan (hereafter called “Program”) for 3,073 units of Navara LE and Navara XE produced between  20/09/2010 and 01/12/2014. The campaign will start from 28/02/2018 at all authorized Nissan dealers nationwide. This Program is in line with the Recall campaign from Nissan Motor Japan for this previous generation Nissan Navara (D40) produced by Nissan Motor Thailand.

Note: The list is provided by Nissan Motor Co., Ltd, Japan, based on distributed vehicles by NVL in Vietnam.

  1. The purpose of Program:

This recall program is inline & similar to recent recalls by multiple automakers globally & in Vietnam utilising the same defective airbags supplied by Takata Co. Japan.

On these affected vehicles, the front passenger airbags (provided by Takata Co. Japan), may not work according to its normal usage intended purpose after being exposed for a long time to environmental moisture and fluctuating high temperatures due to humidity. In the event of a collision where these defective Takata airbags are activated, the airbags may deploy, by the release of high pressure gas, which may cause the defective inflator to rupture, there is a possibility of a risk of injuring drivers and passengers.

  1. Content of Program and Process:

In order to ensure the highest safety for customers, NVL will conduct the inspection and FREE replacement of the airbag inflators for the front passenger for all the affected vehicles listed in this Program.

  • Time of Program’s implementation: from 28/02/2018 to 28/02/2019
  • Location: at all authorised Nissan dealers nationwide (Kindly find the list of dealers in attached file)
  • Time of inspection and replacement: Estimate 1.5 hour per vehicle.

For the highest benefit to customers owning the affected Navara LE and Navara XE models, NVL and authorized dealers of Nissan will send a notice or call directly to customers.  In addition, customers also can check whether your vehicle is affected on NVL’s official website at or contact Nissan Customer Careline at 1800-6883. For convenience & to reduce waiting time, NVL request customers to book an appointment before bringing the vehicle for inspection.
