2010 01 26Nissan Viet Nam : Grand Livina Test Drive

HANOI (January 26, 2010) – With its first locally assembled model scheduled to launch in the first half of 2010, Nissan Vietnam Co., Ltd. (NVL) hosted a two-day, one-night test drive event that kicked off in Hanoi, with a destination of Doson Resort in Doson Town, Hai Phong. The new Nissan Grand Livina has been eagerly anticipated since late 2008 when NVL set up shop in Vietnam. A stylish MPV, Grand Livina has features of a sedan but with more flexibility than a sedan.

Grand Livina’s modern styling is defined by free flowing lines extending from the headlamps, which are accentuated by ample fender flair, on to the stout back end. The all-around wide glass exposure contributes to a spacious feel both for those looking in and for occupants looking out. The spaciousness is much more than a design effect though. Grand Livina offers liberal space in a comfortable cabin that’s distinguished by a high level of fit and finish. Whether moving people, luggage or other cargo, this 7-seater is all about ultimate flexibility.

Once behind the wheel, effortless handling for light and easy driving characterizes Grand Livina. A factor in the ride is the monocoque body structure. The body and chassis are integrated, as opposed to body-on-frame construction, allowing for lighter weight and more rigidity than a normal chassis. This adds to the sedan ride quality which is unparalleled in this class of mid-size MPV.

Contributing to the overall ride is a new generation Nissan engine that offers brisk performance, while delivering exceptional fuel economy to meet the needs of Vietnamese drivers. The lightweight aluminum 1.8-liter MR18DE engine has maximum power of 93 (126) / 5,200 (kW (ps) / rpm) and maximum torque of 174 (17.8) / 4,800 (Nm (kg-m) / rpm). The engine comes with CVTC (Continuously Variable-Valve Timing Control) for improved performance and fuel efficiency. The vehicle will be offered with the choice of a four-speed automatic transmission and six-speed manual transmission.

Grand Livina will be available in four colors: pacific blue, pearl grey, yellowish silver and sapphire black.

In addition to Grand Livina, short-term plans for the Vietnamese market include two other locally produced Nissan vehicles. Nissan, a Japanese global automotive leader with many advanced technologies, expects to be a significant contributor to the automotive marketplace in Vietnam in the years ahead.

Prior to taking Grand Livina on the 240 km round-trip on-road driving adventure, journalists received a product presentation from Yosuke Iwasa, segment chief product specialist, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd Japan

“Grand Livina has a terrific track record in the global market,” said Iwasa. “With its broad acceptance, Nissan brings Grand Livina to Vietnam with a high level of confidence. Grand Livina delivers value, excellent handling and good fuel efficiency, important attributes for the Vietnamese customer.”
